Pulley's task system is how the platform communicates what needs your attention. Whether you're an admin clearing your post-onboarding queue, a signatory reviewing a signature request, or a stakeholder accepting a grant, you access tasks the same way: through the clipboard icon in the top right corner of any Pulley page.

What you see when you get there depends entirely on your role.

New to Pulley's role structure?

See Admin access vs. stakeholder access and Understanding signatories before working through this guide.

Where to find your tasks

The task notification system works the same way for all user types:

  1. Look for the clipboard icon in the top right corner of any Pulley page

  2. The badge number on the icon shows how many pending tasks require your attention

  3. Click the icon to open your task queue

You'll also receive email notifications when new tasks are assigned to you. You can complete most tasks directly from the email link. For all task types, you can also log into Pulley and navigate to your task queue.

Tasks automatically clear once you complete the required action.

Understanding your task queue

Your task queue shows only the tasks relevant to your role. The same clipboard icon, the same queue, different content.

Role

What appears in your task queue

Admin

Exercise request reviews, in-progress securities, repurchase approvals, company-wide workflow tasks

Admin-signatory

All admin tasks plus signature requests for documents you're designated to sign

Signatory (no admin access)

Signature requests only, accessed via the stakeholder portal view

Stakeholder

Grant acceptances, documents to sign, 83(b) elections, option exercise requests, company invitations

One person can hold multiple roles simultaneously. A co-founder who is an admin, a signatory, and a stakeholder will see all relevant task types in a single queue.

Tasks are generated automatically based on workflow triggers, meaning you don't create them manually. They appear when documents need signatures, securities require approval, exercises need review, or agreements await acceptance.

Admin tasks

Immediately after onboarding, expect a high task count. This is normal and not a sign that something went wrong. Pulley automatically generates e-certificates during onboarding for all previously issued shares, and each certificate needs an authorized signatory signature. When applicable, Sign Documents is almost always your highest task count right after onboarding. Completing these clears the queue for stakeholders when you eventually invite them; they'll see fully executed certificates rather than unsigned ones.

For a full explanation of why the post-onboarding task count is high, see Navigating your admin dashboard β†’

Common admin task types

Sign documents

E-certificates and stock agreements awaiting your signature as an authorized signatory.

To sign an individual document:

  1. Click the task line item to navigate directly to the document

  2. Review the document contents

  3. Enter your name in the signature field

  4. Check the box confirming you agree to sign electronically

  5. Click Sign to complete the signature

  6. The task clears from your queue once signed

To sign multiple documents at once using Sign All:

  1. Click the clipboard icon to open your task queue

  2. Locate the Sign All button, which appears when you have multiple signature tasks pending

  3. Click Sign All to review and sign all pending documents in a single workflow

  4. All signature tasks clear from your queue once completed

πŸ‘‰ Use Sign All to clear your post-onboarding queue efficiently. When you have 30-50+ signature tasks after onboarding (primarily certificates, but also any pending stock agreements or other documents), signing them individually is time-consuming. Sign All lets you batch-sign all pending documents at once, significantly reducing the time needed to complete essential setup.

In-progress securities

Transactions that have been started but not yet completed such as repurchasing unvested shares from a departed employee, for example.

  1. Click the task line item to navigate directly to the in-progress security

  2. Review the details and confirm they're accurate

  3. Complete the required action (approve, cancel, or finalize the transaction)

  4. The task clears once the security is resolved

Review exercise requests

An option holder has submitted an exercise request through their stakeholder portal and is waiting for admin approval.

  1. Click the task line item to open the exercise request

  2. Review the request details (number of options, exercise price, payment method)

  3. Approve or reject the request

  4. The stakeholder is notified of your decision automatically

For detailed guidance on the exercise request workflow, see Approve and review exercise requests β†’

Review and sign stock agreements

Option agreements, RSA purchase agreements, or other equity contracts awaiting your signature. These are the agreements that govern the terms of the equity, distinct from e-certificates which prove ownership.

  1. Click the task line item to open the agreement

  2. Review the document

  3. Enter your name in the signature field

  4. Check the box confirming you agree to sign electronically

  5. Click Sign to complete the signature

Signatory tasks

Regardless of whether you have admin access, signatory tasks work the same way: signature requests appear in your task queue and are accessed via the clipboard icon in the top right corner. The surrounding interface will differ (full admin dashboard vs. stakeholder portal view), but the process for completing a request is identical.

Signing multiple documents? If you have multiple signature requests pending, look for the Sign All button in your task queue to sign all pending documents at once rather than opening each one individually.

Completing a signature request

When a document is released for signature, you'll receive an email notification and an in-app task simultaneously. There is no required signing order, you can sign before or after the stakeholder.

  1. Click the link in the notification email, or click the clipboard icon in the top right corner to open your task queue

  2. Locate the pending signature request

  3. Click the task line item to open the document

  4. Review the document contents

  5. Enter your name in the signature field

  6. Check the box confirming you agree to sign electronically

  7. Click Sign to complete the e-signature

  8. The task clears from your queue once signed. The other party's signature status is tracked separately

Not receiving signature request notifications?

A signatory must accept their initial invitation before they will receive any signature request notifications. If you're not seeing tasks or receiving emails, confirm you've accepted your invitation first. This is the most common cause of missed notifications.

For a complete walkthrough of the signatory request workflow, see Complete a signatory request β†’

Stakeholder tasks

Stakeholders access their task queue through the same clipboard icon, but their tasks are focused entirely on their personal equity.

Common stakeholder task types

Accept a grant or security

When equity is issued to you, you'll receive an email notification and an in-app task to review and accept the grant. A preview of the certificate or grant document is visible before you accept.

  1. Click the task line item to open the grant details

  2. Review the terms, vesting schedule, and associated documents

  3. Click Accept to confirm

  4. Any signature tasks associated with the grant will appear in your queue next

Sign documents

Equity agreements, certificates, or other documents requiring your signature.

  1. Click the task line item to open the document

  2. Review the contents

  3. Enter your name in the signature field

  4. Check the box confirming you agree to sign electronically

  5. Click Sign to complete the e-signature

File an 83(b) election

If you've received restricted stock and want to file an 83(b) election, a task will appear with instructions and a deadline.

  1. Click the task line item to open the 83(b) election details

  2. Follow the instructions to complete and file the election within the required timeframe

This task is time-sensitive. 83(b) elections must be filed within 30 days of the grant date. Do not delay acting on this task.

Submit an option exercise request

If you're ready to exercise vested options, you can submit a request through your task queue or directly from your holdings view.

  1. Click the task or navigate to your holdings

  2. Select the options you want to exercise

  3. Complete the exercise request form

  4. Your request will be routed to the company admin for approval

Accept a company invitation

If you've been invited to Pulley but haven't accepted yet, this task will appear in your queue.

  1. Click the task line item to accept the invitation

  2. Once accepted, your equity holdings will be visible in your portal

Troubleshooting

I don't see any tasks

Confirm you're logged in with the correct account. If you have multiple email addresses, the invitation may have been sent to a different one. Check your email for the original Pulley invitation to confirm which email address to use.

My task count is very high after onboarding

This is expected. See the admin tasks section above for context on the post-onboarding task surge. Use Sign All to batch-sign pending certificates and clear your queue efficiently.

I'm not receiving email notifications for tasks

For admins, check that email notifications are enabled at the company level under Company β†’ Email β†’ Settings. For signatories, confirm you've accepted your invitation as this is a prerequisite for receiving signature request notifications. Check spam and junk folders if notifications seem to be missing.

A signatory says they completed their signature but I still see it as pending

Ask them to confirm they completed both steps: clicking the email link and signing within the Pulley interface. Clicking the email link alone without completing the signature in Pulley does not clear the task.

I have two Pulley accounts and I'm seeing tasks in the wrong one

This happens when invitations are sent to different email addresses. Contact support (support@pulley.com) to help consolidate accounts or clarify which account to use.
